2010 Seattle Premier League Players of the Week
Week 1 Player of the Week
Stetson Olson
3B - Baden Baseball
Washington State University bound Stetson Olson has been named the SPL Player of the Week for week 1. The switch hitting Olson led Baden to two wins in the first week of SPL play. Against Narrows, Olson was 2-3 with 2 runs and a solo HR leading them to a 7-3 win. Olson was 2-3 with an RBI against the Puget Sound Roxx.
Week 1 Pitcher of the Week
Brandon Williams
RHP - Puget Sound Roxx
Puget Sound Roxx RHP Brandon Williams has been named the SPL Pitcher of the Week for week 1. Williams, who has also signed on to play at WSU next year, was dominant against Baden for 4.2 innings of work. When he was relieved with 2 outs in the 5th inning, Williams had allowed 0 Runs on 2 hits, while striking out 7 with no walks. Baden came back to score 4 runs in the 6th inning giving Williams a no decision.
Week 2 Player of the Week
John Wilde
OF - Seattle Stars
John Wilde of the Seattle Stars earned the SPL�s Player of the Week for week 2. In the Stars two games, Wilde finished the week a combined 4-6 with a HR, 2 RBI�s, 3 runs scored and a stolen base. Wilde�s performance was a key factor in the Stars 2-0 week. The junior center fielder from Jackson HS has been drawing interest from Division 1 schools.
Week 2 Pitcher of the Week
Billy Sahlinger
RHP - Rips Brewers
Billy Sahlinger of the Rips Brewers earned the SPL Pitcher of the Week for week 2. The sophomore right hander from Newport high school pitched a four-hit complete game shutout while striking out three allowing no walks against the Kent Bulldogs. The complete game shutout is the first by any SPL pitcher of the season.
Week 3 Player of the Week
Travis Crumb
OF - Kent Bulldogs
Travis Crumb of the Kent Bulldogs has been named the SPL�s Player of the Week for week 3. The Tacoma CC recruit has been a catalyst in the middle of the Bulldogs line-up for head coach Jay Garthwaite. In a 9-8 win against Baden, Crumb was 3-3, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, 3 runs. He also helped key another Bulldog win against the Seattle Dodgers going 1-2 with a 2B, 2 SB and an RBI.
Week 3 Pitcher of the Week
Michael McCall
RHP - Narrows Baseball
Michael McCall has earned the SPL Pitcher of the Week for Week 3. McCall is one of the top rated pitchers in the entire 2011 class. The Oregon State commit put up the most dominant performance of the early SPL season against the Federal Way Buzz, recording the win going 6 innings, giving up no runs, while striking out 14 Buzz hitters.
Week 4 Player of the Week
Scott Meyers
OF - Lux Baseball
Scott Meyers, a senior outfielder from Lux baseball, has been named Week 4 SPL Player of the Week. Meyers led Lux to their first league win over the Seattle Dodgers, leading the way with 2 hits, a home run and 4 RBI. Meyers continued his domination of Dodgers pitching in the team's second meeting of the week, enjoying a perfect day at the plate going 3-3, with 2 doubles, a home run and 2 RBI in a losing effort.
Week 4 Pitcher of the Week
Jeff Brigham
RHP - Kent Bulldogs
University of Washington bound Jeff Brigham has earned the SPL Pitcher of the Week award for Week 4. Against Lux Baseball, Brigham pitched a complete game shutout, working 7 innings and allowing just 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 10. Brigham has been a key contributor offensively for the Bulldogs on top of being the staff ace.
Week 5 Player of the Week
Spencer Manjarrez
OF - Narrows Baseball
Spencer Manjarrez, has been named Week 5 Seattle Premier League Player of the Week. Manjarrez has verbally committed to Oregon State University, and has been an offensive catalyst for Narrows this season.
Week 5 Pitcher of the Week
Daniel Marshbank
RHP - Seattle Dodgers
Right-handed pitcher Daniel Marshbank has been named the SPL Week 5 Pitcher of the Week. Marshbank recorded picked up the win in the Dodgers 4-1 victory over Narrows, going 6 innings scattering 4 hits while allowing only 1 run.
Week 6 Player of the Week
Dae Lee
OF - Taylor Baseball
Dae Lee of Taylor Baseball has been named Week 6 SPL Player of the week. Dae Lee has established himself this summer as one of the Northwest�s top left handed hitters in the 2011 class. Lee, who is an exchange student from South Korea attended Kennedy Catholic HS this past school year where he was named to the 1st Team All-Seamount league as an OF. Lee led Taylor Baseball to a 3-1 record last week going 6 for 13 with 2 2B�s, 2 HR�s, 4 RBI�s and 7 Runs scored. Both of his homeruns came in one game against the Kent Bulldogs.
Week 6 Pitcher of the Week
Zach Cloe
RHP - Federal Way Buzz
Right-handed pitcher Zach Cloe has been named the SPL Week 6 Pitcher of the Week. Cloe handled a very good Seattle Stars line-up, going the distance in the Buzz 2-1 win. Cloe allowed only 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 4. Cloe has been making some noise as one of the top right handed pitchers in the 2011 class with his 86-90 FB complimented by his hard slider.
Week 7 Player of the Week
Taylor Smart
IF - Taylor Baseball
Taylor Smart of Taylor Baseball has been named Week 7 SPL Player of the Week. Smart helped Taylor to a 2-1 week both offensively and defensively. In games vs the Brewers and Buzz, Smart blasted homeruns to lead off the game. Smart was 2-4 with a triple and run scored against Lux earlier in the week.
Week 7 Pitcher of the Week
Scott Kuzminsky
RHP - Puget Sound Roxx
Right-handed pitcher Scott Kuzminsky of the Puget Sound Roxx has been named the SPL Week 6 Pitcher of the Week. Kuzminsky pitched a complete game 1-hit shutout against the Dodgers. Kuzminsky is headed to
Bellevue College next year.
