2011 Seattle Stars Season Preview


After falling just short of the inaugural Premier League season title a year ago, the Seattle Stars look to continue its successful tradition in the second season of the Seattle Premier league.

Infielders

The 18U infield is anchored by returning players 2B Taylor Brennan (Fr. Edmonds CC), SS Nate Litka (Sr. Skyline HS), INF/C Anthony Flatt (Sr. Jackson HS), and 2010 Seattle Premier League Silver Bat winner 1B Trevor Mitsui (Sr. Shorewood HS).  In addition, INF Sean Sellars (Sr. Woodinville HS), 3B Brandon Christensen (Sr. Auburn HS), SS Ryne Shelton (Jr. Kentlake HS), 3B Patrick McGrath (Jr. Redmond HS), and INF/RHP TJ Whidbey (Sr. Redmond HS) will add some depth and versatility to the Stars lineup. 

Outfielders

The Stars return the entire starting outfield for the 2011 campaign. They include speedy John Wilde (Sr. Jackson HS); Keenan Forch (Sr. O’dea HS) will add power to the Stars lineup, and the multitalented Sam Brown (Jr. Jackson HS).  Joining the starting trio this year will be Joakim Soderqvist (So. Jackson HS).

Catchers

Behind the plate, Kyle Olson (Sr. Jackson HS) returns from last year’s team, while newcomers Sean Yanuss (Sr. O’Dea HS) and Jeff Beckman (Sr. Hazen CC) join the team to solidify a very strong catching core.

Pitchers

The 2011 Stars pitching staff looks to replace several spots in the rotation.  Front-lining the pitching staff is returning players Nick Kiel (Sr. Jackson HS) and JT Cox (Sr. Lake Stevens HS).  In addition, relievers Henry Baillargeon (Sr. Bothell HS) and Jordan Kynaston (Sr. Bothell HS) return to the bullpen for the Stars.  In addition to these arms, Alex Miller (Jr. Redmond HS) has moved up to the 18U club after a successful seasons with the 16U team.  The Stars have also added Sam Triece (Sr. Meadowdale HS), Jimmy Schmidt (Jr. Hazen HS), and Zac Kolterman (So. Hazen HS) to the staff, while TJ Whidbey, Ryne Shelton, and John Wilde will also see some time on the mound.

The Seattle Stars are excited for another season of Seattle Premier League baseball and to continue to prepare their players for their future careers in the game.
