Seattle Premier League Information and Rules
SPL Board Members
- Will Snyder, Scott Fairbanks, and Guy Keller are the Seattle Premier League board members responsible for day-to-day function and organization of the league. Any questions, suggestions, or concerns can be communicated to these board members.
- At the conclusion of each season, board members will present issues such as rule changes, expansion, and any other issues brought before them. Each team will have a vote on all issues presented.
- Our goal is to include each team in important decisions that affect the league.
- In order for the Seattle Premier League to be successful, we understand every program needs to be treated equally and given equal opportunity.
SPL Game Rules
- Play each team in your division 2 times. (Home and Home)
- Play a total of 18 league games.
- Home team contributes balls.
- League games are 7 innings.
- Big book with old arms length at bags and in the act at the plate.
- There will be no EH allowed for any league games.
- 10 run mercy rule used after 5 innings in SPL league games.
- No mercy rule in SPL Final Four Championship Tournament.
- Although it’s a metal bat league, wood bats are legal to use in SPL league games.
SPL Roster Guidelines
- Rosters are finalized once you play first league game of season.
- Only players on original league rosters are eligible to participate in league games.
- Using non-roster players in any league game results in automatic forfeit and a loss.
- The maximum number of college players allowed on SPL rosters is four. The SPL’s definition of college player is any player one year removed from high school graduation regardless of whether they played an inning of college baseball or not.
SPL In-season and Post-Season awards
- Coaches will vote at end-of-season league meeting. Cannot vote for own players.
- 1st team all-league teams along with league MVP selected at end of regular season play.
- Cy Young award given to top pitcher in league.
- Silver Bat award given to top hitter in league.
- Gold Glove award given to top defensive player in league.
SPL Recruiting Guidelines
- Open Recruiting Period begins August 15th and will run through October 1st, with the exception of Babe Ruth participants, whose period will begin at the conclusion of their season.
- Once a player signs the pre-approved league player agreement form, they are committed to that team for the specified year on that agreement. They will not be allowed to play on any other team in the SPL for that specified season.
- Tampering with players outside the recruiting dates or with a committed player will result in a first time fine of $500.00. 2nd offense results in a fine of $1,500.00. 3rd offense will result in expulsion from league.
- If contacted by a player currently under contract or outside recruiting period listed above, you must contact players’ current coach and SPL board members and inform them immediately.
SPL Team Expectations
- Teams must follow league guidelines to be considered for re-entry the following season.
- Failure to follow league rules and guidelines may result in termination from league the following season.
